The requirements to become a HSP member are:

-  Be able commit time to the program....There are two parts to the validation process for becoming a member of the Heidelberg Ski Patrol.

  • Candidates are required to attend OEC classes, every Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from September until November.   At the completion of the classroom course work, candidates will be required to pass two OEC scenarios administered by OEC instructors and examiners.
  • From the classroom, OTH training begins from January to March.

-  Be willing to assist people in time of emergencies... a validated OEC candidate, attaining the ability to assist casualties, not only on the mountain, will be able to administer injury assessments, and initiate emergency medical attention.

-  Be able to ski/snowboard....each candidate is screened by a European Division Ski Patrol examiner to assess the level of skiing/boarding proficiency.  Basic ski/snowboard level ability is the standard measure of skiing/snowboarding expectations.
